LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.
Before we took part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century. Something I learnt was that Mary Anning’s first major discovery was an Ichthyosaurus, a marine reptile fossil and she found it only at 12 years old.
LI: How to solve word problems involving whole numbers.
For maths last week was to make a DLO of what we were learning and group 4 in was learning about Word Problems.
The way how we decide to show how we did our word problems was giving the people examples like, Darius had $25.10 and he went to the shop, he spends his money on a Mince & Cheese pie which cost $3.50 and also got a Protein Up & Go which cost $6.20, how much money does Darius have now?
So that’s basicly $25.10 – $3.50 – $6.20 = $15.4
Once upon a time, far back in the day, when world was very young, a little mountain located in the country of New Zealand, the name was Maungarei The Fury Terminator, a big and tall and strong green mountain with a fury volcanic heart, but behind all of those wonderful looks, inside his personality was “fierce, and furious anger”, when awoken he always rumbled from town to another town but,
When people and animals stumble over his space or when people and others tramped on him, his fierce, and furious anger makes him active and scary to others and erupts while people are running for their lives in Tamaki Makaurau.
As time past, Maungarei The Fury Terminator keeps on erupting around Tamaki Makaurau, people already taken cover, but Maungarei has a big rage all over the town still not forgiving to people that stumbled over him, but, one ripped man named, Sione Mysky, a strong and tall brown skin youngster with the pe’a tattoos from his waist to his legs plus with a 6 pack, he was the town superhero! His only weapons were his fists, Shins, and his most famous weapon of all, his powerful hook, a dark brown long stick with a sharp edge on the top.
But then Sione had to help his hometown, so he went to Maungarei The Fury Terminator by himself with his brave arua, he said to Maungarei, “STOP INTERRUPTING MY BEAUTIFUL TOWN, I COMMAND YOU TO STOP THIS NONSENSE NOW” Sione demanded,“NO i will keep on destroying this town when they are not STUMBLING on ME!” replied Maungarei The Fury Terminator, but then Sione decided to take out his hook and treated Maungarei The Fury Terminator with it, so then Maungarei The Fury Terminator decided to hear out to Sione and after that he peacefully went to sleep after all of that rage.
The whole of Tamaki Makaurau was at ease, his great sacrifice will be forever passed on, his great work would be forever appreciated. The environment took a turn for the better as the plants started to flourish, the skies had been ridden of the ash that once took over the land. The townspeople had been forever grateful. Their enjoyment and joy was the reason their village was still active.
He may be dormant now, but for now the whole of Tamaki Makaurau is quiet until the next awakening.

LI – To retell an event in history through the fictional eyes of someone who was there.
On the first week of term two Mrs Andersons group for reading have been looking at the events that took place at ANZAC Cove on 25 April 1915, during WW1. Some NZ soldiers were wounded or killed in action.
We looked at some videos of life in the trenches, and explored the Walking with ANZACs site and had a look at Hami Grace’s diary. Doing this helped us put our own diary together.
Then we used Google Vids to record our diary that we wrote before.
I enjoyed using this as it allowed me to share my ideas and learn more about the war. And something i found interresting was how i got the chance to have a look at Hami Grace’s diary.
LI: To understand the story behind our flag
Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time.
Something I found interesting was how cool the flags looked back then, and another thing that i found interesting was that The United Tribes of New Zealand was based off in the north of the North island, one more thing that i found really interesting was how The Union Jack reflects New Zealand’s origins as a British colony.
At the start of the 2025 learning year LS2 has a discussion about how we could make the most of our learning time. To be able to do this we expect to be able to learn new things and collaborate with others.
Today i wanted to the Cartoon Collectables activity, and i did the two Cartoon Collectables activitys.
The first activity was to trace a Disney Cartoon Collectables froma sea related disney movie and i chose The Walrus from The Walrus and the Carpenter, and one fact about him he’s just a chill guy, Here My Work
Then after the first activity i went the next one, so first we had to trace or make are own charater but it had to be related to the sea life, and again i chosed The Walrus from The Walrus and the Carpenter but i made it like spider-man but i called it “Wallarisy – Man”, Heres My Work
Thats it but wait i have one more like this, this time i made it like spider-man again but its a horse with the meanst horsey at the back of his head, Heres What He Looks Like
Today at home i decided to do the Summer Learning Journey, to Activitys 1 & 2.
First i did the first activity and it was about making your own Japanese puffer fish, & i used shapes & used the line tool, after that i was done.
So then after the first activity i went to the 2nd activity, first we had to watch a video about the Japanese puffer fish, then i had to make a google slide about five things i learned in the video. Heres My Work
For Cybersmart today we did 8-Bit Art, and we have learned about pixels. A “pixel” is a single point in a picture. On a screen a pixel is usually a square. And its so fun and easy to learn.
And I’ve used this site called Make 8-Bit Art to make the characters.
The characters are Ash and Pikachu from a famous tv-show called Pokemon.
