For week six and seven LS1 planned a class party plan. There were six different groups and I was in group 1. We had to calculate food, drinks, snacks, and dessert for the class party and buy them based on the budget. Group 1’s budget was $600 and we ended up at $536.46 dollars and cents. We added how the party would look like and how everything is in place (e.g tables, chairs, eating place etc). After we finished our maths party work plan we presented our Maths to our class.

I enjoyed this task because it was fun to add different things and plan different things. I did well on calculating the food prices. 

Today the subject for cybersmart is “Fake News”.  I needed to create my own “Fake News” article, I had to choose between Phone or tablet to write my fake article.  My fake article needed to include “No reliable source. The name of the newspaper looks strange/funny, an eye-catching title, Funny content. We can tell it is a joke because of how silly and unbelievable.

Today for Poetry this week our learning intentions are “Find clues in a poem that tell us what someone is thinking”. First we needed to show what the rhyme scheme is by putting a letter at the end of each line.  Also to highlight words that the author has used to rhyme.  Next we needed to answer questions that was related to the poem.

Next we needed to answer various of questions related to the song.  Lastly we needed to add a picture or shape to show the main idea.

Lasly around the central image, we needed to create text boxes with different feelings from the poem (like happy, sad, confused).

This year for holloween i went and dressed up as a blues player. and i had so much fun.

first i asked my mum if i can go holloween and she said yea whatever so then i dressed up and went trick or treating.

next i saw my friends Daniel, Donyal, Easton, Reece, and Ailan, then we wanted to split up so i just went with my friend Daniel, so then first we went to all the houses in Cean road and then we wanted to go to Eastons house and then i think it was the best house we went to we had like warheads and all that good stuff, then Daniel left ME and i was alone untill my friend Ahea was rideing his van with his uncle and i then he invited me in the van and i jumped in the van and then we went everwhere and we even went to Mission Bay and it was all so fun.

This week we had a special guest coming to our school, an author named “Sally Sutton”.

First the whole school gathered into the hall besides the year 7 & 8 senior because they had a sports session going on, as everyone sat down in there places we all could see some of Sally Sutton’s books aligned on the staged where we could see them.

Next Sally Sutton introduced herself before telling us more about herself, she also read us one of her books “The Cat From The Muzzle” she explained she was inspired to write about a cat who walked all the way from its home back to the farm muzzle which took the cat 5 weeks know one how he did it, she explained her publisher gave her the idea in the first place.

Lastly we were allowed to ask Sally Sutton a question about her career as an author before waving good bye and left for our sport session.

This week for writing we learnt about “Figurative Language” and the different ones there are.  First we learnt the basic one like metaphor, hyperbole and simile before moving on to other one like Idiom, symbolism & personification.

Next we needed to create a DLO explaining the different figurative laguages.  Lastly we needed to Blog.  I did good at explaing each figurative laguages but I need to approve on adding more examples, I liked this task because I like learning about figurative laguages.

This week for Cybersmart we have been learning about “Ownership and Copyright”.

First we needed to watch a video about “Why is Copyright important?”

Next we needed to create a find at least 3 images from any of the public domain sites on the right, on the next slide, create a collage using those images.

• • It helps people earn money for their hard work.
  • It’s fair because people deserve to own what they create.
  • You wouldn’t want someone to take something you made without asking, right?
