Trip to Auckland War Memorial Museum

We went to the museum to finish off our topic of Volcanoes and we had Classroom challenges about Valcanoes – And the classroom challenges was really fun and we had to do this really fun activie where we had 30 seconds to decide what to pack if there was a volcanic eruption near us and we had to be in a group and had to make wise choices so they could stay safe in the event they were evacuated and the things we could pack was a backpack ,toys, can of food, hole punch, and many more. And one fact about the classroom is that they have real volcanoe rocks.

And also what we did at the Museum we went to go look around the galleries, and there was 2-3 galleries and one of them was the “World War 2” also known as “Scars on the heart” gallery and it was my favorite one and one fact i learned from there was that soldiers used something called a “Gas Mask” when there was some infected smoke.

Paired Research Challenge – Dinosaur Research

LI: to research questions about your dinosaur including their habitat, diet, predators, and protection.

Our challenge was to create a DLO that tells others about the dinosaur we found when we excavated our dinosaur eggs. My partner and I found the skeleton of a Pachycephalosaurus.

And one fact about the Pachycephalosaurus is that they use their big head to head-butt their predator.

Something I found interesting was that the Pachycephalosaurus live in the subtropical area.

Dinosaur Eggs

LI: To understand how scientists discover, record and learn from fossils.

Our challenge was to become a palaeontologist who uncovered a rare dinosaur egg fossil. We used Adobe Express to reimagine what a real find might look like. After a quick research challenge about habitat we used that information to create our image.

My partner and I found the skeleton of a Pachycephalosaurus.

And one fact about my dinosaur is that the Pachycephalosaurus use there big heads to head-but their predators.

This task was fun because we could use Adobe Exspress Ai.

Mary Anning

LI: To create a DLO that tells Mary Annings story from her perspective story.

Before we took part in our own dinosaur dig LS2 were challenged to capture the story behind Mary Anning, a pioneering fossil hunter and paleontologist during the early 19th century. Something I learnt was that Mary Anning’s first major discovery was an Ichthyosaurus, a marine reptile fossil and she found it only at 12 years old.

Evolution of the New Zealand flag

LI: To understand the story behind our flag

Our challenge today was to create a collaborative presentation that reflects the story behind our NZ flag. We did this by looking at how our flag has changed over time.

Something I found interesting was how cool the flags looked back then, and another thing that i found interesting was that The United Tribes of New Zealand was based off in the north of the North island, one more thing that i found really interesting was how The Union Jack reflects New Zealand’s origins as a British colony.
